Today we’re talking about teeth whitening? How to make your teeth brighter, whiter and more beautiful? How to make your smile more harmonious at home instantly or in the office?
Teeth Whitening – Best Techniques for Fast Results
There are so many systems that are saying they are going to whiten your teeth and make your smile brighter. The reality is that they all practically work the same way. But it’s about how strong they work, how fast they work and if they are going to give you the result that you want.
First of all, as usual, I have to encourage to have a check with your dentist. We also want to make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy before pursuing any teeth whitening treatment.
What Exactly Make Your Teeth Whiter?
The basic ingredients in all teeth whitening systems is Hydrogen Peroxide. You may know this because it’s in many different agents that brighten things and clean things. It can actually kill bacteria and keep our gums healthy. A lot of people rinse Hydrogen Peroxide in a diluted solution: 50% water and 50% Hydrogen Peroxide to clean their mouth and effectively brighten their teeth.
You can also find it in toothpaste, which contains 1-2% and these toothpastes can brighten your teeth in just few days. You can also make toothpaste at home. Mix 2 tspns with 1 tspn backing soda can make a home-made toothpaste that can whiten your teeth.
One product that we always see on the market are Teeth Whitening Strips. They come in a pack of 28: 14 for the top and 14 for the bottom. You can use them for 30 minutes a day and you will start to see brighter teeth even by the third day of use. I do recommend using a sensitivity toothpaste for 2 weeks before, during and after the treatment whether use it at home or in the office.
How Does Home Differ From In Office?
It’s simply the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide. OTC Hydrogen Peroxide is 3% and that’s safe to use at home. Whitening toothpaste is 2% and whitening strips hover around 10% because that’s something that’s safe for you to administer at home.
In the office where we have great results because we can use stronger concentrations of up to even 40% Hydrogen Peroxide and we are able to break apart the stains and lift them out of your tooth.
How About Light Activation?
You may have seen light activate procedures and wondering “is the light that makes my teeth white?”. Well, all the LED Light accelerates the reaction of whitening. It’s able to achieve optimal results in an hour. But it’s the concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide that actually brightens your teeth.
